Jayton sending 9 to compete at State UIL Academic Championships

After finishing 3rd out of 46 schools at the Regional 1A Academic Meet, Jayton will be sending nine students to Austin this week to compete in the UIL State 1A Academic Meet.
Eight Jayton athletes qualified for the regional tennis tournament, including Kamryn Nail, Jace Chisum, Daylee Chisum, Griff Reel, Luan Oliveira, Sean Stanaland, Taylor Schroeder and Remington Long (not pictured). Jeri Holcomb, amember of the Dickens County 4-H, has recently been selected to the Texas 4-H Congress. The event is a four-day mock legislative experience held in the capital building in Austin for high school students.

Last week was a busy one for Dickens County 4-H. On Monday the Horse and Livestock Quiz Bowl Teams traveled to Vernon for district competition. Quiz Bowl is a fun educational contest that tests a members knowledge using a game show format.
