3 SCHOOLS’ CEREMONIES SET FOR MAY 24 Spur to graduate 21 seniors Spur High School seniors will graduate Friday, May 24, 2019, at 7 p.m. in ceremonies at the school. Julie Beth Ferguson is the valedictorian, with a grade point average of 4.0. She is the daughter of Barry and Anji Ferguson of Spur.

GUTHRIE STATE TRACK:

Brylee Smith and Coulter Reel represented Guthrie CSD at the State UIL Track and Field Meet at the University of Texas in Austin on May 10-11, 2019. Reel placed 5th in the girls’ high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet. Smith placed 6th in the girls’ 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.

MASONS SCHOLARSHIPS:

FISHING REPORT Panhandle Plains Region Week of May 9, 2019

Lake Alan Henry Water clear main lake and 66 degrees, stained up the river and 73 degrees; 1.95' low. Black bass are good on topwaters and fair on Texas rigged worms. Crappie are fair at night on minnows. Catfishing are fair on punch bait and cut bait.

The annual Future Farmers of America banquet was held last week for Spur members, which included recogntion and scholarships being awarded.

TEXAS 1A FAN PHOTOS Sophomore Jorden Zarate pulled off a come-from-behind surge to surpass freshman Isiah Billingsley of Cumby’s Miller Grove High School in the 3200 meter run at the State track meet Friday at the University of Texas at Austin. Zarate’s time was 9:49.
