Dickens Co. will have a 3-person race for sheriff, so far

The sheriff ’s election in Dickens County is now a threeperson race. Romero Rodriquez and Jerry Schmidt both filed for sheriff this week, according to Dickens County Republican party chair Jody Duggan. They join Jay Allen, who had previously filed for the sheriff’s position.

I was raised in Dickens County and have been a subscriber to the Texas Spur for many years. I have read that since 2005 the U.S. has lost 2,900 newspapers, and over 200 counties have no news outlets.
